One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest is a play that has been shown in over 50 countries since it was first staged on Broadway in 1963 with Kirk Douglas and Gene Wilder in the lead roles. This year, the play made its way to Hong Kong with Naiad Productions and Shift is pleased to have been commissioned to create all the collateral.
Shift created flyers and posters using photographs of screwed up images of the cast – visually depicting the screwed up nature of the play’s plot and characters. The visual language of medication packaging overlays the characters images – as indeed medication does in the play.
At each performance the audience was greeted with a screwed up ball of paper on their seat (the programme) and a pill in a cup (candy). We invite the audience to take the “pill” at the start of the play – thereby becoming part of the performance.
Six sold out shows and rave reviews for the production (and the programmes) – a testament to another great collaboration with Naiad Productions.
